SA: Motorcycle gangs within security industry, says SA premier
ADELAIDE, Dec 1 AAP - Four in five central Adelaide pubs and clubs used security guards
from companies linked with outlaw motorcycle gangs, South Australia Premier Mike Rann
said today.
Flagging laws to ensure police scrutiny of all applications to become a crowd controller,
Mr Rann said more than 60 pubs and clubs statewide employed crowd controllers from companies
linked with outlaw motorcycle gangs.
Under the proposed legislation, police would have the power to appeal the granting
of a crowd control licence.
The definition of the use of 'reasonable force' to remove a person from a licensed
premise would also be more specifically defined under the proposed laws.
Mr Rann said the legislation would be presented to state parliament next year, along
with proposed laws to prevent motorcycle gangs building barricaded clubrooms.
