WA: RAN ship sails to rescue of sticken sailor
The Australian Navy is hoping to reach an injured sailor in the Southern Ocean tonight.
YANN ELIES broke his thighbone on Thursday.. after falling on the deck of his yacht
during an around the world yacht race about 12-hundred kilometres south-west of Perth.
Race organisers say another competitor .. MARC GUILLEMOT .. is remaining nearby to
offer moral support.
The Royal Australian Navy's HMAS Arunta left Fremantle on Friday to rescue the french
man .. a doctor from the Royal Flying Doctor Service and a helicopter are on board.
