Qld: Queenslanders embarrassed by "smart" slogan: oppn
Queensland's opposition doesn't think it's smart to overuse the SMART STATE slogan
.. saying many Queenslanders are embarrassed by the idea.
Figures released by Transport Minister PAUL LUCAS show less than 14 per cent of motorists
have opted for the Smart State plates since they were first introduced in October 2001.
By contrast .. almost one-point-nine million people have stuck with the existing SUNSHINE
STATE plates for their vehicles.
Opposition transport spokesman JEFF SEENEY says this demonstrates how foolish the idea
of SMART STATE number plates has been.
